The Estate of Sonya Kay Brett
The Sonya Kay Brett Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship was made possible by a generous gift from the estate of Sonya K. Brett – a professor of business and finance service at Macomb Community College for over 43 years.
The youngest of six children, Sonya was born and raised in Exeter Township. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in business from Eastern Michigan University, also receiving a Master’s Degree in business and finance from Michigan State University.
Sonya believed in the importance of higher education and the great need for nurses now as well as in the future. During the last 18 months of her life she was the recipient of great nursing care, and this scholarship is to honor the nurses for their unending patience and professional nursing skill.
