Richard and Marjorie Sieb
The Richard and Marjorie Sieb Scholarship was created by Richard and Marjorie Sieb to enable residents of Monroe County to attain a better quality of life through higher education and as such be better able to help future generations achieve success.
Lifelong residents of Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Sieb graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. After graduation, Mrs. Sieb became a registered cosmetologist and Mr. Sieb attended the University of Tokyo, Japan. A master plumber, Mr. Sieb is the owner of Sieb Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. Founded by Mr. Sieb’s great grandfather Mathias Sieb in 1868, five generations of family members have continued the tradition of service making it one of the oldest family owned business in the United States.
Passionate about the community in which they live, Mr. and Mrs. Sieb are active community volunteers. Mr. Sieb is a former city of Monroe councilman and mayor. A past president of the Monroe Jaycees, he is a lifetime member of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club, Monroe Historical Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138. He is a past chairman of the United Way of Monroe County and served on the Monroe Bank and Trust Board of Directors. Mrs. Sieb is a past president of the Monroe Jayettes, Theta Eta Chapter, and Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority. She was a two-time director for Mobile Meals, a driver for cancer patients and the Lutheran Home as well as a volunteer for the Ida School for the deaf.
