John and Violet Mueller

John and Violet Mueller

Mr. John Mueller established the John and Violet Mueller Scholarship in 2008. Mr. Mueller started his career as an elementary teacher at Mason Consolidated Schools. He worked there for 10 years. He then worked at Blissfield Schools, Lincoln School, and Cantrick Junior High School until 1966 when he became principal at Hurd Road Elementary in the Jefferson School District. Mr. Mueller retired in 1986. Mrs. Mueller retired after 15 years as Office Manager and Purchasing Agent from Alro Steel in 1988.

The Muellers are very involved with the community and volunteerism. Some of the organizations they either belong to or volunteer for are Rotary Club, MASP member, summer camp program at the Grape School for Handicapped Children, and Toledo’s German-American Festival. Mr. Mueller has been a member of the American Turners for over fifty (50) years. Both of Mr. Mueller’s parents immigrated from Germany to better themselves and raise their children in America.

“It was a prudent way to provide scholarships to needy students who otherwise might not be able to obtain a higher education. Education pays in the long run” said Mr. Mueller.
