JoAnn Naida

The JoAnn Naida LPN to RN Nursing Scholarship was established to support students pursuing their higher education goals in the MCCC Nursing Program.

JoAnn attended St. Mary’s Academy High School (now St. Mary’s Catholic Central High School) in Monroe, MI. After graduation, she continued her education at Eastern Michigan University, earning bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in college and community counseling and an ABD (All But Dissertation) designation in educational leadership from Wayne State University.

She dedicated almost 40 years in health care. JoAnn started her career at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe (now ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital) where she worked for 28 years and then moved on to work at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for another decade. She provided much of her knowledge in nursing as a clinical instructor at MCCC and Henry Ford Community College (now Henry Ford College) in Dearborn, MI.

JoAnn is a member of the Monroe Community Players, Friends of Monroe County Library System, St. Mary Catholic Church and participates in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. She and her late husband, David, have four children together: Jean, Linda, John and Paul, three of whom are graduates of MCCC’s Nursing Program. One son, after graduating from MCCC went on to study medicine at the University of Michigan and now works as a physician in Milwaukee, WI. Both daughters are nurses and another son works in the furniture industry.
