Dr. Joyce Haver and Mr. Gerald D. Welch

Mr. Gerald Welch, the second President of Monroe County Community College, was well known for his Irish sense of humor, his enthusiasm for motorcycling and his love of history. He passed in February of 2022 and is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Dr. Joyce Haver.

Dr. Joyce Haver retired from her position as professor of counseling at MCCC in December 2022 where she served students in the community for 45 years. She began serving students at Monroe High School as an English teach in 1971 and took a position as the director of alternative education in 1975. In 1977, she was a part-time evening counselor at MCCC, accepted a full-time position in 1978 and served as the director of admissions and guidance services in the 1980s.
